Frequently Asked Questions
What can I do to lower my energy bills?
There are several small ways to lower your energy bill such as turning off lights when not in use. However, if you want to make the biggest impact, you need to install a heating and cooling system that is energy-efficient. At Ducts Plus, we use units that come from KeepRite, a company the creates HVAC equipment that is as energy-efficient as possible, and we combine those units with custom duct work that further cuts down on energy waste.
What kind of warranties does Ducts Plus offer on HVAC systems?
All of our new installations on furnaces or cooling units come with a ten year parts warranty as well as a one year labor warranty. Customers can also upgrade the labor portion to a ten year warranty if desired.
How often should I change my furnace filter?
Some filters are meant to be changed every month, and others are meant to last for three months. However, regardless of which style you purchase, you should check your filter each month to ensure that it is free of dirt, dust, and debris.
How often should I service my HVAC system?
It is a good idea to have your HVAC system serviced at least once per year to ensure that it is working at peak performance. In cooler areas like the Niagara region, before the winter season is an excellent time to do the routine maintenance. Keeping up with the routine servicing is the best way to ensure that your unit has a long lifespan.
Should I adjust the temperature on my thermostat when I’m gone?
Adjusting your thermostat when you are not at home such as when you are working for extended periods or on vacation, will help save you money on your energy bills like gas and hydro. However, you can save yourself some hassle and still save money by switching to a programmable thermostat. Our service technicians can help you make the switch!
What is better to install a tankless or tank water heater?
If you use your hot water for less than two hours per day, it is more efficient to install a tankless water heater. However, if you use more than two hours worth of hot water per day, such as a big family with lots of showers and loads of laundry, you will be better off with a tank water heater.
